The
school provides assistance in locating students with Chilean
host families in Iquique. We have selected families which
can provide the student with a homely and friendly atmosphere
and any assistance the student may need. The director personally
knows them, and the majority of them are professionals by
trade. We usually assign one student per family. However,
if the student chooses to, the school will find accomodations
elsewhere, either at an apartment or a hotel.
Not only do students live and take their
meals with their host families, but they also continue to
learn the language outside of the Academy. Over the years
we have discovered that the combination of classes at the
Academy with the experience of living with a host family
has meant that students acquire the language more rapidly.
The school and host families are very conscious of the needs
for students to talk with Chileans other than the ones at
the school, and every effort has been made to allow the
students integrate more easily into the local community.
This provides students with a stress free environment in
which to learn.
